Organizations & Memberships

Whether a Student Pilot, a Newly Minted Private Pilot or a Seasoned pro, there are Organizations and Associations that you should join or at least consider. Probably First on this list should be a membership with the AOPA. The Aircraft Pilots and Owners Association. Not only will you then get Flying Magazine, but you will also be a part of the broadest General Aviation Group that exists. In addition to the magazine you will get discounts at many companies, even outside of the aviation filed, including Hotels, Rental Cars etc. You will be supporting a group that fully supports General Aviation. In addition you are able to get aircraft and renters insurance through the AOPA as well as aircraft financing, though there are many other ways to also accomplish this. For an addition fee you can get two different levels of Medical Support, a real value if you are having issues with getting you FAA Medical Certificate. There is an option for legal assistance as well as insurance for Certified Flight Instructors and other benefits. Check them out on the WEB. If you are a fan of Home Built or Antique Tube and Fabric Airplanes, Consider joining the EAA, Experimental Aircraft Association. In addition to being a National Organization, there are local Chapters where you can join, participate in meetings, Fly Ins, Aircraft Renovation Projects and the Young Eagles, providing hands on flying to young people to help create interest in General Aviation, Check them out on their web site. Beyond this, there are groups for types of flying, like the Seaplane Pilots Association, The Soaring Society, Ski Fliers etc. And plenty of Aircraft Specific Sites Like Beech Talk, for all Beechcraft's, Beech Aero Club for the Beech Musketeer line of planes known as Baby Beeches or Mouse's. There are also clubs / forums for other specific make of aircraft down to specific models. There are Face Book Groups for about every type of flying. Flying Doctors, Female Flying Groups etc. Or start your own. Maybe Flying Fly Fishermen, Flying Baby Sitters etc. The possibilities are endless as there are all types of people with all types of interest out there flying and looking for like minded pilots.
